Lesson objectives

By the end of the week, learners should be able to:

  1. Recall the First-Term weekly topics by matching them to term titles.
  2. Identify weak areas and request targeted reteaching.
  3. Complete a gap-fill worksheet covering the missed first-term themes.
  4. Practise typing records again to recover previous accuracy.
  5. Submit a revision plan for the Third Term based on current weakness.

Key vocabulary

  • Gap-fill: a worksheet testing recall of previously taught material with missing items.
  • Weak area: a topic where recall is below the expected level.
  • Reteaching: focused instruction on a weak area before the final revision.
  • Revision plan: a short list of topics to concentrate effort on now.
  • Recall: retrieving information from memory without notes.

Common misconceptions

  • "Revision means rereading notes." Rereading feels easy but does not build recall; targeted exercises do.
  • "Everyone knows everything from First Term." Some topics are weak for specific learners and need attention.
  • "Revision is only the last two weeks." Regular mini-reviews reduce stress later.

Teacher activities

  1. Starter: show the twelve First-Term week titles; ask learners to place them in order of teaching coverage.
  2. Share the revision results and highlight the weakest three topics as targets for reteaching.
  3. Model one gap-fill item step by step, showing how to find the missing answer.
  4. Run the gap-fill worksheet as pairs, circulating to diagnose difficulties.
  5. Review the worksheet together and mark common mistakes.
  6. Assign a revision plan focusing on one weak topic and one weak typing skill.

Student activities

  1. Arrange the twelve week titles in teaching order and compare with the official sequence.
  2. Identify your weakest topic from the starter display and write it as a revision plan item.
  3. Complete the gap-fill worksheet and self-mark using the provided answer key.
  4. Practise the typed drill for ten minutes and record the result.
  5. Write a revision plan with one weak topic, one weak typing skill and one retraining action.
  6. Submit the revision plan to the teacher for review.

Practical / learning evidence

A completed gap-fill worksheet, a revision plan listing one weak topic, one weak typing skill and one retraining action, and a refreshed typed record. Hand in all three for marking.

Resources and preparation

Printed gap-fill worksheet, a revision-plan template and a blank typed drill record sheet. Pre-print a sample revision plan with dates filled in so learners can adapt it.

Assessment for learning

Mark the gap-fill worksheet for correct answers and the revision plan for specificity and honesty. Inspect the refreshed typed record for improvement. Flag any learner with persistent weaknesses in the First Term and schedule reteaching soon.

Inclusion and homework

Allow extra time on the gap-fill worksheet where approved and provide a partially completed version. Pair learners who struggle with revision planning. Extend confident learners by asking them to plan revision for one strong First-Term topic and one weak topic.
